Removing Heavy Efflorescence for BIG MONEY—Safely—With EffBOMB

Real Contractor Results. Real White Stain Removal. Real Profit.

🧪 A Training Session Turned Masterclass in Efflorescence Removal

We recently hosted a hands-on Trident Sand & Sealer training in Toronto, and what started as a standard session quickly turned into a real-world masterclass on heavy efflorescence removal.

Take a look at the before-and-after image from August 18th, 2024—what looks like snow was actually one of the worst salt buildups we've ever seen in 20+ years of fieldwork.

❄️ Yes, that white layer isn’t snow—it’s fresh, fluffy sodium efflorescence on concrete pavers.

🔍 How Do You Know It’s Efflorescence?

Clue #1: Texture – Light, powdery, and snow-like
Clue #2: Season – Appearing mid-summer, not winter
Clue #3: Surface Type – Concrete or stone with drainage issues

Fresh efflorescence = sodium bicarbonate (easy to remove)
Old, scaly efflorescence = calcium carbonate (harder to remove)

💡 What’s the Easiest Way to Remove Efflorescence?

For Homeowners:
Act
fast. Fresh efflorescence is easiest to remove early and costs far less.

For Contractors:
Spot it. Offer removal during routine cleanings.
Door-knock where you see signs of early efflorescence—it’s easy money if you have the right product and method.

Efflorescence Removal Methods Using EffBOMB

For Fresh Powder-Like Efflorescence:

  1. Use a 10:1 downstream injector with EffBOMB

  2. Apply across affected surface

  3. Let dwell for 5–10 minutes (keep it wet)

  4. Rinse with clean water

  5. Done!

For Hardened or Scaly Efflorescence:

  1. Spray 50–75% EffBOMB from pump sprayer

  2. Let dwell for 5 mins, reapply, dwell again

  3. Scrape using:

    • Metal scraper

    • Stiff nylon brush

    • Nylagrit brush or needle scaler

  4. Apply more EffBOMB

  5. After another 5 mins, power wash with turbo nozzle

  6. Repeat if needed

🛡️ How to Prevent Efflorescence from Returning

Stop the water. Period.
Efflorescence only happens when
water enters and dissolves salts from behind or within the material. Long-term prevention means:

  • Fix cracks and joint failures

  • Seal properly with breathable impregnating sealers like:

    • AquaBlocka (for DIYers)

    • Stain-Proof Premium Impregnator

    • Trident Cyclone or CAT 5 Hybrid Sealer

You don’t just remove efflorescence—you prevent it from happening again.

💰 What Can You Charge for Efflorescence Removal?

Pricing varies by region, but here are common rates for Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal:

Type Price per sq. ft. Minimum Charge Light / New Efflorescence $0.65+ $250+ (often waived if sealing after) Heavy / Hardened Efflorescence $1.75+ $500+ (sealer and repairs extra)

Tip: Offer discounted sealing packages after removal—easy upsell and added protection.
